There’s been a lot of talk
about the rich paying their “fair share” ever since the Messiah
started his quest to fundamentally change America. Well, I’m still waiting to hear what exactly he thinks a
“fair share” is.
Consider this:
50% (that’s half for those
of you in still in public school) of all taxpayers pay almost 97% of all
Federal income taxes.
The top 10% of wage earners
(“the hated rich”) pay 65.84% of all Federal income taxes.
The top 5% of wage earners
(“the really hated rich”) pay 54.36% (that’s MORE than half for those of you
still in public school) of all Federal income taxes.
The top 1% of wage earners
(“the really, really, super-duper hated rich”) pay 34.27% of all Federal income
taxes.
The top 25% of wage earners
(“the not-so-rich”) pay almost 84% of all Federal income taxes.
The bottom 50% of wage
earners pay about 3% of all Federal income taxes.
And just to put icing on the
cake, the bottom 47% of wage earners pay NO (as in zero, zilch, zip, nada,
nothing and diddly-squat) income taxes.
And yet, the president says,
“the rich need to pay their fair share.”
Let’s put things in
perspective:
The top 1% earn 16.77% of
all income but pay more than one-third of the total tax bill.
The top 5% earn 31.18% of
the total income but pay more than half of the total tax bill.
The top 10% earn 42.36% of
the total income but pay almost 2/3 of the total tax bill.
The top 25% earn 64.86% of
the total income but pay close to 90% of the total tax bill.
And yet, the president says,
“the rich need to pay their fair share “.
We haven’t even begun to add
in social security, medicare, sales taxes, gasoline taxes, property taxes,
school taxes, state income taxes and a myriad of federal and state taxes that
raise the cost of goods sold to the public. When you add those to the mix, the tax bill comes in
somewhere around 70% (depending on your geography.)
And yet, the president says,
“the rich need to pay their fair share.”
So, what’s fair? 80%, 90%, 100%? Let’s not forget that President Obama’s
father, a socialist, wrote that the government had the right to confiscate 100%
of earnings.
Are the dreams of the father
the tenets of the son?
If you believe your taxes
are too low, let me offer a solution to your dilemma: Donate a few bucks to
Uncle Sam. No one is stopping you
from sending a check to the federal government. There is no law against it and I’m sure the boys in DC would
gladly accept it.
Anyone can donate money by
sending a check to:
Gifts to the United States
U.S. Department of the
Treasury
Credit Accounting Branch
3700 East-West Highway, Room
622D
Hyattsville, MD 20782
The money will go to the
general fund, and it’s tax deductible.
If you want to help pay down
the national debt, you can mail a check to:
Bureau of the Public Debt
P. O. Box 2188
Parkersburg, WV 26106-2188
Otherwise,
may I suggest you keep your hands in your own pocket and out of everyone
else’s.
