As you sit in your comfortable home, watching your big screen tv and munching on your favorite fat-inducing snack, I hope you’ll take the time to remember the folks who made it all possible: The United States Military.
For more than two centuries, American men and women, of all ethnic and racial backgrounds, of all religions and no religion have provided the security necessary for you to enjoy life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
At a time when we are fighting enemies, both external and internal, we need to realize the importance of the gift the American soldier has given us: the gift of freedom. It didn’t come easy. It didn’t come quickly and it didn’t come cheap. Many paid the ultimate price; too many.
But we sit here today, taking the breath of liberty because of them. Not because of some cheap politician handing out free money, but because of the dedication to ideals set forth by the founders of this great republic. Just as our heroes in uniform do today, they pledged their lives, their fortunes and their sacred honor. Unfortunately too many of us are unwilling to do the same.
.
So to those of you who served, thank you. To those of you who didn’t, say a prayer for those who did. Especially for the ones that didn’t come back.
